Publix Super Markets announced last week that it was issuing a voluntary recall for its private label Artichoke and Spinach Dip product due to possible contamination with tiny glass bits.
No information was provided about where the glass particles came from, what size of particle to expect or how it got into the dip. But in a press release about the recall Publix disclosed that only 1 UPC is affected:
If you think you might have some of the recalled dip on hand, look for a 16-ounce tub with UPC 000-41415-15961 and 1 of these use-by dates, which you should be able to find on the lid:
- May 16 A1
- May 16 C1
Publix says that the recalled dip was sold in these states:
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
I am not aware of any consumer being injured by the reported glass particles but Publix’s media and community relations director, Maria Brous, acknowledges that the recall was prompted by multiple customer complaints.
If you have any of the recalled dip in your refrigerator you can return it to your nearest Publix. You’ll be given a full refund of your purchase price.
If you would like more information about this recall you can contact the company directly by calling 1-800-242-1227.
